The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has successfully repatriated 51 foreign nationals convicted of cyber-terrorism and internet fraud. This latest group includes 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian, bringing the total number of deported convicts to 102 since the operation began on August 15, 2025. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in collaboration with The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) , carried out the repatriation as part of a broader crackdown on foreign-led cybercrime networks operating in Nigeria. The individuals were among 192 foreign suspects arrested during a sting operation in Lagos, following intelligence reports on their illicit activities. The NIS under CG Kemi Nandap, and in line with Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo led interior ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring that Nigeria is not a safe haven for international criminals. The service stated that the successful conviction and repatriation of these individuals sends a clear message that illicit activities undermining the nation's economy and national security will not be tolerated. The Service aim to protect Nigeria's digital space and maintain national security. By taking decisive action against foreign nationals involved in cybercrime, the commission is working to prevent the country from being exploited for malicious activities. Further deportations are expected in the coming days as the crackdown continues. The EFCC's collaboration with the NIS demonstrates the government's determination to tackle cybercrime and ensure that Nigeria's digital environment is secure and safe for all.
